Students learn about the internal architecture and organization of a computer system. The role that evaluation of performance has in relation to computer system design, the design and architecture of instruction sets, design and optimization of data paths, control design, pipeline implementations, single/ multiple cycles, hazard detection and forwarding, hierarchy design for memory, cache memory, virtual memory, and peripheral and input/ output (I/O) devices. This course also provides an overview of digital logic.
